Alex was probably pushing this whole "adventuring" thing he had going on. But he was staying within Alderres' borders so it wasn't like anything bad could happen to him here, right? As the teen hiked up a particularly steep slope, holding onto tree trunks to help him forward, he decided not to linger long just in case. He doubted that getting mauled to death by a bear or something wasn't a pleasant way to die, even if he'd revive and heal himself after. It was probably a bit too painful and Alex wasn't that much of a masochist.
With a bit of difficulty, Alex had finally climbed one of the lowest ridges in the mountains. And this was probably as far as he was going to get. He got a decent view of the town in the distance though and Alex was at the same time surprised and unnerved by how far he'd willingly travelled. From here, Alderres looked like a tiny toy village and if he narrowed his eyes and really focused... he was saw that was his apartment block he could see near the outskirts of the residential area.
Alex giggled lightly to himself and sat down on the leaf-strewn ground. He wondered what Mack was up to right now. He'd told the guy that he was going for a walk but... not this far. At least now he could smoke in peace. He'd told Mack that he was quitting but it was proving a hard habit to kick, to be completely honest. As the teen dug out the small, carton packet he promised himself that next time he'd make himself walk even further if he wanted a smoke.
"Not like it'll kill me." Alex hummed amused as he placed the end of the tab delicately between his lips, pinkened from the slight cold. He'd just birthed a warm, amber flame from the zippo Mack had given him back when he was a chain-smoking teen and Alex now watched, hypnotized almost, as the orange ember ate away at the end of the cigarette with swirls of grey smoke.
The teen's cheeks hollowed as he took a drag, his slender eyebrows knitting together as he saw a glimpse of movement down the slope a bit. He stared fixedly at the spot as he slowly let a curling billow of smoke escape his lips. But on not seeing anything more, Alex shrugged and went back to enjoy his first smoke in two days - it'd probably been a bird or something.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane was sent over to search the enemy's territory. It was all too easy to get pass the walls and the numerous guards. All he did was freeze time and then walked right back. And none of the guards knew any better that Carford's second general was already walking its streets. He saw that everything was different there. And because of that, he had a lot to report back.
Then he decided to head to the forest and get some rest. Being in normal clothes was something Shane wasn't used too. And as he went further into the forest, he knew he was getting lost. He sighed. he didn't expect that the Aldere Mountains was that confusing. Well, the Carford seaside was confusing to others as well. He just hoped that he didn't run into anyone. He didn't want to cause a fight scene. Though he could just freeze them, it would spark a battle out of the blue and his Commander would be disappointed ever more that he wasn't careful enough.

The teen began to relax once again, his head falling back against the tree trunk he leaned against and blowing little smoke hoops into the air. He was purely made out of vices and he knew it. This was probably the good and bad thing about being a Healer. His body wouldn't become damaged as a result of smoking, drinking or whatever. Alex only ever really got the good side of all that. And that just made it harder to quit, like smoking.
As he watched the ember flare up and glow with more intensity on inhaling, Alex heard another rustle. This one more distinct and loud, as if a large animal was ploughing through the bushes or something. The teen quickly stole the last drag on his cigarette and stubbed it out on the tree, stuffing the butt into the carton from his pocket. What did fate have against him having a moment to himself?
The young Nephilim wasn't too sure what to do. Did he bolt for it? Did he stay put? Probably the latter because his body was in no mood whatsoever to move - he was rooted to the spot from nerves at what he'd see breaking through the brush in three... two... one...
It was a man. Alex didn't know whether to breath a sigh of relief or tense up even more. He opted to breathe easy again and place a hand on his wildly thumping heart. "G-God, you almost killed me." Alex said in a quiet tone, laughing inwardly at what he'd just said. Alex couldn't actually die, being a Healer. He'd revive almost straight after if he had the energy to do so. But still. "Y-You okay?"

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane was just as startled as the other man was. He didn't expect to run into anyone in the forest. Because truth be told, who would be in their right mind would want to be alone in the forest. It was just then that he could smell a trace of cigarette smell. This guy was smoking in the forest. Alone. Shane didn't see the logic. Why would he go all the way out here just to smoke?
Then he turned to look at the guy
[/color] "I'm sorry to have startled you. It was not my intention to do so. Please remain calm. I mean you no harm. I was just... lost." he said. Though he didn't want to admit it, it was the truth. And from Shane's point of view, this guy didn't look like he would pick a fight. He was smaller in stature and Shane could easily defeat him if it did end up into a fight.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Click Here // Tagged: Healer Alex // Notes: I Can't Believe I'm Lost

Alex looked the man once over. He seemed honest enough. If he'd wanted to hurt him in any way he'd probably have done so already. The newcomer was a bit of a monster of a man compared to the teen. It still didn't mean that Alex was going to let his guard down.
"Lost? Yeah... I guess its easy to get lost 'round here." Alex mumbled, digging his carton packet back out of his pocket. He had one of those snazzy tin things somewhere. It was in one of his bags... or boxes... and, to be truthful, Alex had been to lazy to find it. So, until then, he was stuck with flimsy cartons that got squished easily in his too-tight jeans.
The teen slid a cigarette out and held it between two fingers, wishing he didn't shake so visibly. It was just embarrassing. He swallowed and placed it between his lips, looking up at the man. "You're not... a bandit or anything are you?" He mumbled as he fished around for his chrome zippo once again - his excuse this time was that a smoke would calm his nerves. "Because... if you are... I don't have anything on me. Just tabs and a lighter."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane was amused. The other began to smoke again. He wondered why. Then the other asked if he was a bandit. He look down on his clothes and raised a brow. Did bandits wear nice clothes now? Not that Shane thought what he was wearing was nice, he just preferred his uniform really. Then he shook his head and held back his laughter.
"No I am not a bandit. I did say to not fear me. I really mean you now harm. I am just lost. I came here to... Run away... From all the confusing things in the city. If I may ask, why are you here? Smoking and alone? Do you not fear the enemy of this city? That they might be here somewhere and might attack you?" Shane asked him straight forward. not that he was concerned but this guy had a very low self-preservation level. Did humans really live like this?
It was just then that Shane took a sniff. The other wasn't fully human. He was a nephilim. No wonder he didn't feel scared being there. He could probably fight for himself. But still, Shane knew that this guys shouldn't be alone here. He might get himself into trouble.

Apparently the man had just wanted to get away from the city. That was understandable. It was only a bit bigger than the town next to Broadhaven but... it was still a bit much, what with the martial law that was in place. Alex wasn't too keen on that. It made him feel as though that he hadn't really gotten away from the old institution. He'd gone from one hellhole to another.
"Smoking. And I'm quitting." Alex muttered as he lit up again, he took a small drag and rolled his shoulders awkwardly. "Well, at least, I'm trying to." He confessed. He wanted to give it up, to be honest. He hated how the smell stayed in his fingers and clothes and it just wasn't nice. But he couldn't help himself. He always ended up caving and disappearing for "the last one".
Did Alex fear the enemy? Of course he did. And what was up with those questions? They'd unsettled the teen. "Of course I do." Alex muttered almost inaudibly, looking down at his feet while he exhaled a plume of slate air. "But... I don't think the enemy would hurt me if they knew what I can do... it'd be pointless." If they hurt him, he'd just heal instantly, plus pain for him wasn't like how others experienced pain. Alex put it down to his powers but pain, for him, was coupled with a tickling feeling. It was just odd. It hurt but then it was just weird at the same time.
"What about you then? You're wandering the mountains, lost, knowing the enemy could surprise you at any given moment." Alex said, raising a single, slender eyebrow, turning the man's own question against himself.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ He chuckled as the other tried to explain why he was there. Trying to quit? That's be tough for him them. Some of his soldiers said the same thing too and yet until now, they were still at it. But he smiled at the other, "Well, good luck with that then. The quitting I mean. I heard it isn't as easy as saying it. And as for your question, I think they would think twice of attacking me. I'm not as small as you are so I think I have a good chance that I might win and leave them in pain." Shane said as he sat down a rock a few feet away from the other.
Then he studied the other carefully. What could he do that would make the enemy think it was useless to attack him? It was puzzling now and Shane knew it was rude to ask. And he couldn't ask since he didn't even know the other guy's name. But he didn't think it was a bright idea to introduce himself first. He was going to wait.

Alex was going to need that luck if he planned on kicking the habit any time soon. He was weak when it came to his primary vices: sex, alcohol and cigarettes. The first two he'd never be able to give up for the life of him and he was working (and failing) on dropping the third. Maybe some people just weren't cut out for change, like Alex.
"Just 'cause I'm small doesn't mean anything." Alex said, lifting his chin an inch defiantly. "No one ever tell you not to judge a book by its cover? I could possess some offensive power like... Psionic Blast. Muscle can't win against brains if you're crippled without even being touched." So Alex was a little bit touchy on being made out to be weak, he couldn't help it, even if it was probably true. He stared at the man for a moment and smiled faintly before turning back to his cigarette, the ember had turned half of it to ash already.
"Okay... I don't have that power." Alex mumbled, looking down. It'd be pretty cool if he did though. "I'm not even in the military." He glanced at the larger man and let his tab dangle precariously between his lips. "What about you?"

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane raised his hands in defense and a smile on his face. "I'm sorry if I had offended you. I didn't mean it that way. I just meant that I think that whoever thought of harming me would think twice since I look like a bandit myself, as you had said earlier." Shane said as he brought his hands down. He wanted to tell the other that a Psionis Blast would be useless if he froze time. But he didn't say it.
He sighed as he waited for the signal that it was alright for him to return. He had been too far from his camp for too long and the further he was away, the longer Shane had to dread that he might actually start a fight while he was behind enemy lines. And that was what he didn't want. Not with a civilian here.
[/color] "By the way, are you from around here?" he asked. And if the other said yes, Shane was going to consider him a civilian and an innocent even if he was a demon. He didn't like to kill for no reason. He wanted to think of himself that way.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Click Here // Tagged: Healer Alex // Notes: I Can't Believe I'm Lost

"Yeah, m'from 'round here." Alex said before taking the last drag on his tab, his cheeks hollowing as he drew the poisonous fumes into his lungs. "I was transferred here to work in---" Wait. That had been a strange question for the man to ask. Of course Alex was from around here. If he wasn't from Alderres it'd be rather foolish of him to linger around their mountains.
Alex narrowed his eyes suspiciously and silently stubbed out his second cigarette, popping the extinguished butt into the carton box as he had done before. "Why do you ask that?" Oh lord, maybe he thought that he wasn't from Alderres. That he was the infiltrated one camping out in the mountains, hiding under the disguise of a meek-looking teenage boy who liked to smoke alone in a rarely transited area of forest. Now that he thought about it, even Alex would suspect him if he ran into someone just like him.
"I-I am from Alderres. I think I have my ID here... i-if you want it." In a bizarre turn of events, Alex now felt the need to prove that he wasn't the enemy. "But I do live here. Honest. I only got transferred yesterday."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane held his stomach and laughed. the other turned from calm to freaked. That was fast. Then he sat straight, "Relax... No need to show your ID. I was merely asking since you don't seem like the rest who smoke in public. Either your hiding that fact from the rest of the people or you promised to quit and is hiding here to smoke in order not to be seen." Shane said with an amused tone as he used his psychology on the other being.
Then he knew that he had to reassure the other that he wasn't iin danger. Which was breaking his own rule: Never introduce yourself first.
[/color] "I'm Archer by the way. Rest assured that you are not in danger. Do I look like I mean you harm? If I did, I would have done the moment I met you right?" he said with a smile. He hoped that the other won't ask him if he was from there. Because it would be shitty if Shane had to make up one stupid excuse.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Click Here // Tagged: Healer Alex // Notes: I Can't Believe I'm Lost

Alex sighed, calmed by the fact that the man didn't seem like he was growing suspicious of him. He'd turned down the offer of seeing his identification which had to mean something, right? "Its the latter, I guess." Alex mumbled, his voice slightly weaker from relief. "Promised to quit and I'm hiding. So I don't get caught." He was so grateful that the man had sussed out why he was here. Alex really didn't feel like getting apprehended and accused of being an enemy within Alderres lines.
Archer. That was an uncommon name. Alex had never met an Archer before. Maybe an Archie, but not an Archer. It was a nice name though. Maybe the man was a hunter? Or something? Alex didn't know. His brain had a weird sense of logic. "I'm Alexander Torres." The teen said with a slight dip of his head, thinking that it'd only be fair if he offered his name in return seeing as the man had just done so. "Who knows... you could be trying to get me to lower my guard..." He said this with a trace of a smile on his lips. But what the man had said was partly true - if he'd wanted to harm Alex, he would've been able to do so before. "I think it goes without saying that I don't mean harm neither. I don't think I'd be able to. And my powers aren't exactly... offensive."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane chuckled as Alexnder said something about him lowering his guard. Shane wouldn't think of doing such a child-like move. He could just simply freeze Alexander, bring him to Carford and torture him if he actually wanted to. But he didn't. The other did say he wasn't in the military so Shane kept all military thoughts at bay. "Well rest assured that I would not do such a thing. Since your are not a military man and all. And my powers isn't offensive as well. Well, I like to think it isn't." Shane said with a smile.
Then he looked around, everything was quiet and it was a nice quiet change from all the yelling and commanding he did back in Carford. He sighed.
[/color] "Forest are nice places to run to when you want to escape reality for an hour or two." Shane said as he took a deep breath. Great. Wrath Demon wanting peace of mind. It wasn't all the time. "Since I'm not a military man?" Alex repeated, his interested perking up at what Archer had just said. And his power wasn't offensive? Well, judging by how the man had said it, he'd hinted that it could be employed for offensive uses. Alex couldn't help wonder what it was. "Does that mean you work in the military, Archer?"
If he worked in the military, then maybe Mack had seen him once or twice? Alex wasn't too sure how close the Academy was with the other soldiers. But surely there was a chance that the two and unknowingly crossed paths. "Yeah... almost makes you forget what's going on down there." Alex said with a shrug, fidgeting with the tassels on his red scarf. "I didn't want to come to this island, y'know. I was sent here by my old Academy. Probably bought or something." The teen wouldn't be surprised if that was what had happened. Healers weren't too common. Back in Broadhaven he had been the only one from what he remembered. He supposed there was a shortage of them here too.
"But it wasn't like I had much choice in the matter." Alex sighed, twirling a tassel around one nimble finger. "And anyway, at least they don't treat me like government property here."
