12 year old Elizabeth Schultz, affectionately referred to as 'Lizzy' by friends and family, was found dead on the outskirts of the Jade Forest on Friday night shortly after midnight. The official cause of death has been ruled a homicide, blunt force trauma to the head. Officials say the girl was beaten about the head and torso and left in the forest, where she bled out over the course of a few hours.
Close friend Mikele Jason talked with us on the strange circumstances surrounding her disappearance. “I was with her the morning it happened," Jason recalled, voice shaking with emoiton. "She really loved flowers. She told me she wanted to go find some wild violet for her mother's birthday." Her mother and father have yet to answer any questions in the wake of their only daughter's death. A funeral service will be held later this week.
Initial reports indicate that this was the work of Carford Soldiers. The General Julio Rodriguez of the Alderres Army said that this sort of action by the Carford Army should come as no surprise. This tragic incident recalls the massacre of Alderres recruits near the Carderres river. It is likely that Elizabeth happened upon a group of Carford spies and was killed to maintain secrecy. Alderres citizens should take this as a warning and a reminder that our city is still at war, and the enemy shows no signs of sympathy. Rodriguez has reiterated the importance of staying within city limits at all times and maintaining vigilance.
