~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Eight in the evening? Well, Shane was sure Ackley wouldn't be staying the night. It was something Shane was not going make it happen. Bringing Ackley over to Carford was already a risk. But it was necessary. Shane was going to just have to take extreme measures to make sure that Ackley's entrance and exit will be undetected. Shane was going to make a list of things he needed to do before he rested. He smiled up at Bree, "Well, my visitor won't be staying that long. So, everything will be as is." he said as he finished his dessert. Things were going to get very messy and Shane was not the type to keep things messy. He was going to clean up and he was going plan. A very thorough plan.
Shane had to laugh, was Bree a mind reader? "I'm sorry... I just found it humorous that even if I didn't say it, the fact that I was going to work around your schedule, you said it yourself. Now, I'm trying to figure out if your power id mind reading. If you, that would be a bit convenient at times. Not all the time but at crucial times." he said as he stood up and went to the kitchen. Then he sighed, he knew that he needed to talk to someone. "The reason I asked is because the visitor who is coming doesn't know about me... Not the Carford me. Ackley Lynch, the one who I am using as a cover over at Alderres, his coming over and I'm using that closeness to secure a perfect cover. Alexander Torres and Mackenzie Martin aren't so well suited as my cover. But Ackley is." he told her as he came back into the dinning room.

Bree merely shrugged after Shane had finished speaking. It was okay that she'd be back then. Okay. Super. She wouldn't have to worry about staying out later or coming home sooner. It was so much easier now; she didn't have to worry about much. Just...secret keeping. Not from Shane, but from everyone else. How was she supposed to keep the fact that she was now living with someone a secret? She didn't know, in all honesty. It would be extremely difficult for her, because if anyone asked about that, she'd have to give an honest answer or keep silent. And Bree wasn't so good at keeping quiet.
"Okay, that should be fine, then." she agreed, finishing her desert. There was going to be a way that this whole situation would work out for the better; there just had to be. There would be a long term benefit. They wouldn't be doing it if it didn't have some sort of gain for the both of them; it would just be pointless. So this would be what they would do. They would keep quiet about the fact that they were now living together, to avoid gossip and such. It would be easier and cleaner that way.
She laughed at his next words, and shook her head. "Oh, no, I'm not telepathic," she snickered. "I'm telekinetic. I'm just very intuitive, I suppose. I can generally tell what people are thinking." She twirled a stray curl of her hair around her finger. "It's all to do with body language. I'm quite good with that; I need to be able to tell when people are about to lie so that I can ready myself for it. If that makes sense."
She nodded at his next words in understanding. "Ohhh." she said, the situation clearing up slightly. "Okay, I guess that makes sense." And it did. It was pretty easy to understand why he wanted someone from Alderres to think that he was also an Alderres resident; it was just easier, she supposed, for military purposes. If they were even military purposes. Whatever. Bree didn't know, and she wasn't really interested in reasons. She just knew that it was easier to understand now.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane laughed along with her. "Wow, impressive. You can move things with your mind. I wish I can do that as well as freeze time and such. Then I'd probably be lazy for the rest of eternity." he joked as he looked at her. Then she smiled, "Well, I don't know about body language but I think I've been able to tell a thing or two about people by their facial expression. Any slight change on it does not escape me. Which is why people sometimes get intimidated when I put on the serious Shane Archer Mills face. The one that I use for work. This face, this one your seeing, it doesn't happen at work." he said as he emphasized his face then he sighed.
He walked to the window to open a glass panel to let a cool night breeze in. "Bree, I hope that we both will be able to walk out of all this in one piece. That we both would still be sane after all this. I am still sorry. If I could have just froze time and take you out of there, I would have. But Alex knows what I can do. And if I appeared after you 'vanished', he'd probably think something was up. He may be smarter than he allowed me to see. Though he is very emotional that specimen." Shane said as he shook his head. Alex indeed was emotional. And Mack was the exact opposite. However, Ackley. Yes, Ackley was indeed interesting. Easily trusts strangers. Something Shane used to his advantage. But there was that underlying feeling of... remorse? Regret? Conscience? Whatever it was, Shane had to get rid of it soon.

Bree snorted when Shane called her power impressive. Well. Maybe it was quite impressive. It may have been impressive, but it wasn't really an offensive power, was it? Sure, it was a useful power. But she couldn't really defend herself with it. There were some things she could use it for, but defence wasn't really one of them. It wasn't like she could lift people with her mind; just inanimate objects. And, being the kind-of lazy type that she was, she didn't like to lift heavy objects. Normally, she just went for things that she could hold in her hand, only going heavier if it was an emergency.
"Well, if I'm completely honest," she said, with a snicker, "that's pretty much what I use it for, too. I can be pretty lazy sometimes." She didn't mention that using her powers was quite draining, too, but it wasn't as draining as having to get up and do something. She was pretty powerful. so using telekinesis was pretty easy for her. It was practically second nature.
She nodded at his next words. "Oh, so you do facial stuff? Yeah, I'm okay with that, but it's pretty hard to tell sometimes." She nodded in agreement with her own words. Facial expressions could easily be masked. Whereas body language was always a give away. It was very hard to hide body language; partly because it was subconscious to people. They didn't know that they were doing what they were doing. But Bree did; she'd trained herself pretty well in that area.
She gave a dismissive flap of her hand. "Stop apologizing, Shane." she said. "You didn't know that what happened was going to happen. If anyone here should be apologizing, it's me for not staying where I was supposed to be." Yeah, it had been pretty much all her fault, for ignoring city boundaries. But sometimes, it was just so easy to forget, to slip into a new place. A new world, if you will. Ugh, that sounded so cheesy. But, nyeh, it was true.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ He didn't know how he was able to tell but facials were his thing. "Well, if you've been on Earth as long as I have, you'd have learned how to read facials after five decades or more. Body language false when you sitting down or when you're standing so still. But body language is your thing. Everyone has their own ways of knowing how to read people. Like you, for a split second, you changed your facial expression when I said that you ought to have moved in with me for your safety as well as mine. Even if you think that no one saw it, I did. Its just how things are." he said as the more cool evening wind came in. It was strange, that everything was calm. Shane had always been wary. A calm sea appears before a storm does. So Shane was going to have to be more careful.
He then turned back and smiled, "Come on, I'll show you to your room." he said as he went to the living room, grabbed her guitar case and the suitcase by the stairs. He led her upstairs and to a narrow pathway. "The last door at the end of this hall is my room, this room, the first door on your right is your room. It's not much but its got the basics. Your bedroom is facing Carford, so if anything happens in the city, you'll be the first to see it." he said as he showed her the bedroom. He placed down the things he was carrying by the foot of the bed. "And your bathroom is right over here. Its not that much but its got what you need: toilet, shower, and sink. I have my own bathroom too so we don't need to share one." he said and chuckled.

Bree nodded in complete understanding. Yeah, well, she probably hadn't been on Earth as long as Shane had. She'd only been on Earth for three years, so most people had been here longer than she had. It was just the truth; she didn't really care about her inexperience. She was pretty sure that even Brent had been on Earth longer than she had, about three years longer, actually. But hey, she was learning pretty quickly. It had been strangely easy to pick up from where she left off on Earth. She hadn't expected it to be quite so simple.
"Oh, wow, five decades?" she said, a little surprised. "I haven't even managed half a decade yet; I'm relatively new to Earth." She nodded. Again, her inexperience didn't really bother her. It was just a new beginning, she supposed. Heaven was a past life, and this was the start of what she hoped would be an amazing new life. Well, maybe not amazing. She thought she was holding a little too much baggage for that. But as good as it could possibly get. That was what she was hoping for.
She obediently followed Shane up the stair when he motioned for her to come with him. She felt slightly awkward about him carrying her stuff; she could have done that. But it didn't seem like she could really say anything. So she just followed him up the stairs, and nodded when he said that her room was the first on the right. Okay, that would be easy to remember. Well, it might not be easy, knowing Bree's memory, but it wouldn't be exactly hard either.
She entered the room, and...oh, wow. Wow. It was gorgeous. It actually brought a smile to Bree's face. It was nothing like her bedroom at home. Bree's bedroom at home was smaller, slightly more feminine. But this? This was just amazingly stylish. It was so nice. She especially liked the neutral coloring; it gave it a certain sort of style that Bree couldn't place, but was still absolutely amazing. She was so used to the color blue in her bedroom it was untrue, so a change of scenery was lovely. And the window? Perfect. "Oh, Shane, it's gorgeous." she said, smiling. "Thank you."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane was glad that Bree liked it. It was all neutral. No clashing of colors. He was sure that either she was thinking that this room and the whole house was a side of Shane that he was hiding from everyone or that Shane was gay. He wasn't. Demons like him don't have gender. They go for either. Well he did. "Well, I'm glad that you like it. I'm glad that it hasn't surprised you. To think that someone like me could have made a room like this. It's different. It gives off the feeling that even if I'm a demon, I don't have to be one when I'm alone." he said. He closed the bathroom door and turned to smile at her.
"There are more pillows and blankets on the hallway closet. If you need towels, its there too. Please treat this place as your own while you are here. I want you to live comfortably while your staying here." he said as he walked over to the door, "Its been a long day, you should wash up and get some rest. You can close the curtains when you sleep. If you want that is. The remote for the air condition is on the night stand. Have a good night's rest, Bree Anise Ripsen."" he said as he bowed and closed the door. Shane went to his own bedroom to rest. He would have a challenging day tomorrow: Getting Ackley back and forth the border without being noticed. He sighed. Yup, it was a challenge.
