So maybe Brent had an ulterior motive for going to the library. Or maybe he didn't. Either way, he wasn't telling. He was just going to get... some book by... by an author that he'd most definitely heard of. Because Brent hadn't read a book in pretty much forever. Unless you counted the little baby books he used to read to Rory but Brent really didn't want to think about that again. That also meant that he'd never been to a library either but he was sure he wouldn't look too lost in there. It was just some place full of books that he was just going to see because he had nothing better to be doing. Yup, no ulterior motive here at all.
And now, what a crucial moment in Brent's life: he was no longer a library-virgin. Wow, people hadn't been kidding when they'd said libraries were literally full of books. They were everywhere, shelves and shelves of them. They were kind of intimidating to someone who had never picked up a proper novel at any point during his life. ...Okay, so what was he meant to do now? Brent was already feeling completely lost.

One good thing about the library was that it wasn't exactly busy. People just didn't use the library like they used to. Chase didn't think he would be able to not use the library. He loved all the books and everything that went with it. He would never get tired of the smell of books. Most people didn't think they had their own smell... but Chase did. There was something about the paper that actually put a smile on his face. New books were the best. The smell hadn't been tampered with yet.
Chase never really actually worked. He read books and he helped people when they came in, but that was rare. He mostly just relaxed in the library. The perfect job. He had been doing just that behind his desk when someone came in that he didn't expect to. What was Brent doing in the library? He didn't seem like someone that read... Chase watched as he looked around the place, obviously confused, which was completely adorable. Every time Chase saw Brent he was reminded of the first night they met. Chase still thought they had a weird connection, but got rid of that thought because Brent just couldn't do it. Chase then met Mori, which turned out to be dangerous for their sex lives. He didn't have anymore feelings for him, and Chase wouldn't admit to himself his feelings for Brent were still there.
He decided to put Brent out of the misery that was the library and walked over to him. "You look a bit lost..."
Chase smiled at him with his hip cocked and a hand on it. [/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Clicky! || Notes: --- || Tagged: ---

Um. Books. Library. Huh. Brent had no clue whatsoever what he was meant to do here. Maybe he could just slip away, unnoticed, now able to tell people that he had actually been to a library before... for a whole thirty seconds. That had become Brent's next plan of action, until Chase started walking over. And Brent was most definitely not admiring just how good those jeans looked on the librarian.
Oh shit he really did look out of place here, didn't he? Brent was inwardly screaming 'I told you so' to himself, just wanting to go back and hide away in his office or maybe even his house at the moment instead of feeling incredibly stupid. "Mm, maybe I am a bit." he huffed. Brent's eyes were darting around the room nervously. He couldn't even tell if it was Chase or the unfamiliar environment that was making him feel so uncomfortable. "I''m not-" No, wait. Brent paused, preventing himself from telling Chase that he wasn't a library-virgin anymore. Gosh, like he was ever going to allow himself to tell anybody that. "I've never been to a library before."
He thankfully managed to correct himself without too big a pause in between what he'd last said.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Clicky! Words: 215 Notes: *facepalm* Tagged: Chay

Brent had never been in library before? That was... weird yet not. Chase knew not a lot of people like to read now but most people had been in a library at some point in their life. Chase supposed Brent really hadn't fallen that long ago... so it wasn't that bad or anything. He just smiled at Brent. "Well you came in here for something, right? What did you want? A book, obviously. Any idea what?"
Chase asked and tried to be helpful. He grabbed Brent's hand, never really one to care about boundaries or anything like that, and pulled him over to his desk. It was kind of messy... but mainly due to all the paperwork and books spread across it. He hadn't organized the returns today yet so there was a huge stack of books next to the desk. He sat down on all the paperwork and let go of Brent's hand as he did so. "I was just reading, so now you get to occupy me. Didn't know you had to when you came to the library, did you?" Chase laughed, smiling fondly at the other demon before him. Thinking of a book to get beforehand would've been an excellent idea, it was a shame Brent had only just realised that now when it was far too late. "Uh... no." Brent shook his head, not able to think up the names of any authors or book titles. To be fair, he could've completely made something up and hoped for the best but he decided not to risk it. With Chase being a librarian and all that, he'd probably be able to work it out if Brent lied about that.
Brent was distracted from his own thoughts when Chase took his hand and then dragged him over to his desk. It looked almost as bad as Brent's did, now that was saying something. "Nope... that's nice?" The Demon half smiled uncertainly, shoving his hands into his trouser pockets and just feeling completely awkward... because when he wasn't particularly upset over something, Brent and awkwardness came pretty much hand in hand. What wasn't helping was the fact that Brent was attempting to not get side tracked by his train of thought by Chase's smile, however bad that sounded. He had a really pretty smile, okay? Brent couldn't help that fact that he kept noticing it instead of trying to think of something that wasn't awkward for him to say or do.

Brent came to the library but didn't have any idea of what book he wanted to get? That was a bit odd, wasn't it? Well... Chase supposed it wasn't too odd because people came in the library all the time without knowing what they wanted to read. Those were normally people that read all the time, though. Not people who had never been in a library before. Chase just shook it off and kept smiling, happy for the company at work. "Well. Do you know what kind of genre you'd like? I can recommend a favorite. I'm currently working on reading every book in the library. So I know a lot. I'm about a quarter of the way through. I'll get there though."
Chase laughed. He had only been here for about 5 years. Give him a bit and he would know what every book in the library was about. Chase didn't understand why Brent was always so awkward. "You need to relax a bit... it's so awkward to be around you." Chase rolled his eyes at the demon. Chase supposed he could call Brent his friend now... even if they weren't the closest. Brent was closer than any other person at being his friend. [/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Clicky! || Notes: --- || Tagged: ---

Unfortunately, Brent was still pretty much clueless when it came to all of this library shit. And, what, books had genres? He thought he'd better just pretend that he knew that already because Chase had said it like it was kind of an obvious thing. And it felt like something Brent's should've definitely known already. Another thing Brent was a little puzzled over was how Chase had even managed to read so many books, it just seemed impossible. "That's... a lot." he commented. Brent chose not to boast over the fact that he'd read The Very Hungry Caterpillar dozens and dozens of times. It didn't seem that impressive anymore.
Realising that he still hadn't answered Chase's question, Brent shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea... a recommendation would be good." The Demon glanced over at Chase. He just hoped this book wasn't going to be insanely long or anything or he'd probably forget about it and give up on reading, knowing him.
"I'm already relaxed." Brent snapped, possibly being a little too defensive but not caring at the moment. He knew he was being awkward right now... Brent couldn't help it. He made sure to glare over at Chase, just for good measure.

Was that a lot? Chase actually thought it was a small number. He had been slacking the past few months because he was more into his drums than anything else. He supposed to normal people it was a lot though. So he just laughed. "Right... well. The Hunger Games are popular and good... but I don't think it's something you'd like. hmm."
Chase thought about it for a second before jumping from the realization. "Here. You can read my favorite book. I absolutley love it. Read it several times and never get tired of it. And it's not too long either." Chase said as he reached in the drawer of his desk where he had a few of his own copies of books stashed away. He'd just give Brent his. He handed the smaller book called The Outsiders over with a smile. Brent was always so defensive when it came to certain things. He wasn't sure why yet, but Chase was working on figuring it out. He knew there was something wrong because of how Bree acted that one time, but he'd never make Bree or Brent tell him. He supposed Brent would tell him when he was good and ready. "Hey... that wasn't a bad thing." Chase told him as he reached out and threaded their fingers together again, this time not pulling away. He gave Brent's hand a gentle squeeze. Brent hadn't even heard of The Hunger Games... well, actually, he thought he maybe sold a few of the CDs for the soundtrack to the film or was considering selling them at some point. Because he knew that sometimes books were made into films so, that was the same Hunger Games, right? He was determined to remember this. And, no, Brent didn't think he'd like the it because Taylor Swift was on the soundtrack. Which meant that he probably didn't sell it after all because... Taylor Swift... big no-no. The Arcade Fire song had been the only one he'd really taken a liking to on there, the others weren't anything special. He hadn't even bothered listening to Taylor's songs.
He realised that he'd been completely distracted by thinking about the soundtrack because Chase was holding out a book for him to take. "Sorry... uh, I was just thinking about The Hunger Games soundtrack." he apologised quietly before taking the book with a nod of thanks. Well, he'd have to keep this somewhere fireproof.
Gosh, Brent just felt more awkward but at the same time, kind of better when Chase held his hand again and squeezed it. And... how was this awkwardness not a bad thing? "Yeah, 'course." He had to stop himself from rolling his eyes.

Most people got annoyed with people spacing out when they're talking to each other, but Chase just found it amusing, actually. He wasn't sure why, but it looked like Brent could be one of those people that spaced out a lot. It was a cute look on his face. Chase wasn't going to deny that. But zoning out about the soundtrack? "The movie isn't as good as the book. Like all movies that are made from books."
Chase explained to him, figuring he was talking about the crappy music in the movie. Chase loved watching movies. "You always talk to much... honestly. What will it take to get you to stop talking." Chase said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes affectionately at his friend. He really hadn't heard Brent talk much past the first night they met. Even then he really didn't talk. Chase wondered what it would take for him to open up and talk... Chase wasn't sure it was exactly possible. Brent was a demon and Chase didn't want to make him mad, even if he was sure at the point that Brent wasn't going to hurt him. Oh, so the actual film was as bad as its soundtrack? What more could Brent really expect. "Oh... uh, okay." Brent nodded. He really needed to watch more films or read more books, maybe then he'd be able to have conversation he could contribute to more or possibly make less awkward. Emphasis on the possibly there because this was Brent, after all.
Brent hadn't really felt this awkward since his conversation with Bree in Neon Tiger a while back. He didn't even know why he was actually feeling so awkward... he just was. It was kind of getting to the point where he was considering leaving. He only come here for a book, and he had one now so, yeah, that would be okay if he just went home now. "I just don't have much to talk about." he shrugged, not sure if he was lying or not. And he could just go now, right? That wouldn't be weird? He hoped so. "I, uh, need to go home now. Bye, Chase." Brent quickly walked out in case Chase tried to stop him. Now, he definitely needed to make sure he had somewhere safe to put this book.
