Chase was bored. He didn't want to seem overly clingly or anything to Brent, otherwise he probably would have called him or something. Showed up at his house. Been the complete stalker he is. Hell yeah. Not really. He didn't want to do that. Plus he wasn't even sure what him and Brent were. They both liked each other. That was about all Chase knew for sure. That was good enough for him at the moment. He wasn't going to push, Chase still felt there was something Brent wasn't telling him.
Well. He knew Brent didn't tell him something. Brent still didn't know Chase knew though. He had found out from Amy, and hadn't talked to Brent about it yet. He maybe should... but there had to of been a reason that Brent didn't tell Chase about it... or maybe it just wasn't a big deal and Brent didn't think Chase needed to know. Either way. Chase knew. Brent didn't know he knew. That could cause potential problems to their relationship. That hadn't officially started yet.
He decided going by the water sounded like a good thing. So he went by the beach. He sat well away from water, but close enough for him to still feel the cool effect that radiated from it. He loved water. Not as much as the Earth... but he still loved it.

Amy didn't really know what she was going to do now. Brent hated her, that was certain; and honestly, what had she been expecting? After all, she'd lied to him- and never had told him the truth, despite how easy it would have been. She'd dropped Reuben off at the childminder's, as per usual, but the library was closed that day. So Amy had nothing to do and nowhere to go.
The redhead decided that going to the beach would be a viable option. Amy used to love the ocean, having stared at the waves for long periods of time in the past. She made her way to the beach, sighing as she felt the cooling breeze of the coast brush her face. Stepping on to the sand, she looked upward at the sky, which was a pale, wintry blue. So what if she'd come to the beach for more than one reason? Yeah, she might have come to avoid Brent- her ex being a hydrophobe had to mean he didn't like the beach- but what did that matter? Avoiding the other demon would be a good thing. She'd forget about him more quickly that way, surely. That was what she told herself, anyway, but she didn't believe it.
Scanning the sand, she was surprised to see someone else there. Apparently, Amy wasn't the only person who thought visits to the beach made sense in December. Heading closer, she realised that the figure there was recognisable; it was Chase Jackson, the guy she worked with. He liked the ocean, did he? Maybe that was why the redhead decided to go and say hello- because he didn't seem to hate water. She didn't really know. So as not to give him a heart attack- killing him wasn't really her intention- the redhead walked into his line of sight. She came to a stop in front of Chase. Looking down at him, she quietly said, "Hey."

Brent was petrified to say the least. Really, it had been quite a while since he'd had the guts to leave his house which was rather sad now that he thought about it. Although... it couldn't exactly be helped now, could it? He'd rung up what's-his-face at Neon Tiger, claiming to be ill. Which, strictly speaking, was the truth. He hadn't been in any fit state to be around people, let alone work. Yes, it would be very much an understatement to say that Brent hadn't taken Amy's reappearance particularly well. He'd wanted to go running to Chase but the demon knew that wasn't going to be a good idea. Brent didn't want to have to explain the whole Amy situation to him or be seen by anyone whilst he'd gotten himself into such a state.
After his brief disappearance due to his unhealthy state of mind, Brent had decided to venture out into the big, wide world again now that he felt a little more sure of himself. Why exactly he'd ended up taking himself to the beach of all places, Brent didn't even want to think into that. Somewhere, in the back of his mind, he was almost certain that this was some kind of test to see just how 'okay' he really was. Being so close to water put him under more pressure. Coming to the beach had been a stupid idea, Brent realised that as soon as he saw the sea a long way in the distance and already felt the strongest urge to just turn and run. Where was the fun in that though? Of course he was going to have to get closer than this.
This was far from being an enjoyable experience. It was completely pointless if Brent were to be honest with himself but, hey, it beat staying in that house by himself. Anything was better than that, Brent had learnt that the hard way but mostly chose not to do anything about it. He was considering going back at the moment because the water was way too close for comfort now even if it wasn't that near to him yet.
Two familiar figures to his left did stop him from leaving. No. No no no no. That was... not good. Chase and Amy weren't supposed to ever meet. Never, under any circumstance. He was going to have to go over there, wasn't he? As much as he didn't want to.
"Hello." the man addressed the other demons quietly. Brent couldn't bring himself to look at Amy, well, or Chase either for that matter. Instead he ended up staring out to sea, feeling incredibly uneasy and mentally scolding himself for going to the beach in the first place. He couldn't see anything positive that was going to come out of this meeting.

Chase looked up at the other demon that had been sort of on his mind. Well.. brent was mainly the one on his mind, but she came along because she was his ex wife that Chase didn't know about before he met her. Which was so not the right way to learn about something. He gave her a small smile. "Hey Amy. What're you doing here?"
Chase questioned her with a friendly smile. Sure... he was here. But it wasn't exactly a common thing to be at the beach at this time of year. Even though Chase really didn't mind the cold or anything. He found the cold as calming as the water. It wasn't long after Amy came that Brent showed up. Chase's mind might have possibly freaked out. They had to of been together... they came right after one another. That's not just a coincidence. They just... have to be. Chase tried to take a deep breath. Brent didn't know Chase knew about Amy... did Chase... pretend like he didn't know and pass it off as nothing? Or... did he come clean. Chase really needed to rethink this whole him being a demon thing... he so didn't act like one. Where was Moriel when he needed him. "Hey Brent... You I definitely didn't expect to see here. Amy was a surprise, but not as much as you." Chase cracked a smile up him before it faltered on realizing that it gave away Chase knowing Amy. Brent still didn't know Chase knew Amy was his ex wife? That was a good thing, right? Of course. "S-sit down guys? I could always use some company." Chase tried not to think about how Brent wasn't even looking at him. How awkward this felt already and they had all barely said a word to each other. Chase was fairly certain that he didn't exactly want to be here right now. Why didn't he just do what he thought he shouldn't have done and went to see Brent at his house. Granted he probably wouldn't have been there... but Chase could have been a creep and waited? No... that was even worse than just showing up at the house randomly. Chase was having a little mini freak out in his head and he didn't know what to do. Mori would know what to do... Even Bree might know more than he did right now. Bree. Why didn't Chase think to go talk to her! He could have at least asked her if there was any reason Brent would want to hide an ex wife from Chase. She couldn't lie and she knew Brent a bit better than Chase knew him. Brent and Chase really didn't know each other very well. Other than that one night stand that turned into something more, a bit of talking here and there. And then of course the jealousy that came from Brent and sort of Chase as well. It was weird... All of it was weird. Chase just wanted a normal life. He wanted to like someone and then he wanted to date them. He wanted to be happy with them. Why couldn't he get that? Why did everything have to be so complicated that he just kind of hated his life. Right now, for example... it could have been a simple trip to the beach. Nothing horrible happening to the point of complete awkwardness. Instead, Brent shows up, which wasn't bad, and his ex wife that Brent didn't bother mentioning was already there. Came not even minutes before Brent had. Why did Chase not think this was a coincidence. There was something wrong. He just... knew there was something that he didn't know but he didn't want to ask either one of them. He didn't want to make anything even more awkward. Even if he asked them alone... Brent probably would pass it off as nothing and say that nothing happened that Chase needed to know. Amy... well. Chase didn't know Amy well enough to guess what she would say. Chase guessed that she might tell him... but that wasn't good enough for Chase. He wanted to hear it from Brent. Not Amy. Not Bree. Not anyone of the stupid island but Brent. He didn't know why it was so important to him. But it was. He just didn't know how to get Brent to tell him. What happened to the life where everything was simple. At least when Chase was a fallen getting beat up on by a demon things were simple. The demon hated him. Chase was weak. Chase got beat on. Simple. Cruel. But simple. He was okay with that even. This. He wasn't okay with. [/blockquote][/blockquote] Outfit: Clicky! || Notes: I may have taken it a bit overboard. I'msorry. || Tagged: Brent & Amy

Amy glanced at Chase. To be honest, she didn't even know why she was there. Well, she was aware that she liked the beach, which probably explained it. "Well," she started to say, with a brief smile, "I--" Her grin faded as she spotted yet another familiar face. Really? He was here? Why? He hated water! It made no sense in the slightest, but then neither did Brent. She supposed that she couldn't have expected anything understandable from him.
Even his casual 'hello' annoyed her. Had he forgotten everything that happened recently? It certainly seemed that way. If he was gonna play that game, then she would too. God, he wasn't the only one who was good at pretending. Sweetly, she tossed her auburn hair over one shoulder. "Brent!" she said, voice filled with artificial happiness that was probably quite transparent. "It's great to see you!" Before Chase was able to see, she shot a glare at her ex-husband. She wished he would wither and die, but he probably wouldn't.
She stood in silence, looking at Brent out of the corner of her eye. He was glaring at the ocean, and his fear was evident in his stature. Amy found it funny; how could one man be so scared of something that probably wouldn't even hurt him?
Hearing Chase's query, she didn't say anything. Of course he'd address Brent; he didn't even know who she was, after all. Amy was just a co-worker to him, and probably would never be a friend. Which was probably a good thing. It infuriated her that Brent had to come along and interrupt everything though. Amy was trying to avoid her ex-husband, after all; but as he kept on finding her whenever she went out, it was kind of hard to.
"Thanks," she said to Chase, hearing his request for the pair to sit down. Glancing back up at Brent, she said, "You don't need to tell me how nice company can be." The female demon turned her gaze to the sand and smiled faintly at the grains trickling between her trailing fingers. What was she doing here? God, she didn't even know anymore.

Shit, this was bad. Chase apparently knew Amy already, or at least knew her name, which meant that they probably had met before. Brent just had to hope that she hadn't gone and mentioned anything about her past to Chase or he was going to be in a whole load of trouble. But he did have a kind of okay reason for keeping the whole Amy thing to himself, in his mind at least. It wasn't something he was ever going to find easy to say, who could? Brent knew that still didn't excuse the fact that Chase had been kept in the dark for all this time because he was too stubborn and insecure to tell him the truth. It could be worse though. Brent hadn't even lied about anything else, y'know, if you excluded the fact that he'd told Chase that he'd always been a demon. That wasn't such a big deal...
Brent automatically cringed upon hearing the false sweetness in Amy's voice as she flipped her hair over her shoulder in what had to be the most irritating manner humanly possible. Could he just... rip it out? Right now? Or maybe burn it off? No. He was in public and Chase was here, that wouldn't be particularly good. It was extremely tempting, nonetheless. Brent glared back at her, not bothering to mask his anger as he didn't think he'd even be capable of doing so at the moment.
He felt extremely guilty and wasn't entirely sure why. Why should he feel guilty for not telling Chase about Amy, anyway? It was private. Very private. Guilt wasn't something the demon experienced often and hated it whenever he did because half the time he wasn't certain of the cause for the sickening feeling.
"No... I..." Brent wasn't going to attempt to explain why he was here at the beach of all places so just shut up and settled for agreeing to sit down with a curt nod of his head. And he'd thought that maybe he wasn't going to end up losing his temper with someone until Amy went and opened her mouth again. She was purposely trying to get some sort of reaction out of him. She had to be. Brent wasn't in the mood to be pushed further until he got so wound up he did something that could end up causing some kind of fatal injury. Perhaps he'd simply give her a warning. That sounded like it could work in his favour.
Realising he'd momentarily frozen after Amy had spoken, Brent snapped back to the present. Bending down, he clamped his hand around her forearm, his palm red-hot as he purposely burnt her bare skin. He brought his lips to her ear, hissing venomously at the woman he loathed so much, "Cut it out. Or you'll regret it."
This didn't look suspicious, nope, not in the slightest.

Chase gave Amy a smile as she sat down next to him. They weren't good friends or anything, just coworkers, but she seemed nice enough to him. He didn't think she was going to attack him at any moment. "Company is always nice... well. Sometimes I guess."
Chase said with a small smile as he looked up at Brent. He knew why Chase didn't always like company... he knew everything. It didn't seem like Brent was paying attention though, he was bent toward Amy and whispered something in her ear. Well that was a bit on the odd side. He felt so much tension between the two and Brent didn't even know he knew they had been married before. Should he tell Brent? Maybe it would lessen the tension that was going on. It was worth a shot at least. "Brent... just relax alright? Amy and I work together. And yes, she's told me you two used to be married." Chase didn't like seeing Brent so... tense. Sure he knew Brent was kind of always angry... but it didn't stop him from liking Brent. Chase knew there was something on the inside. How dare him. He had no right to tell her what to do. God, he thought that he was so much better than her, but he was worse. Much, much worse. Turning slightly, she whispered in Brent's ear. "Don't tell me what to do. Okay? I'm not afraid of you." With that, she ruffled her ex-husband's hair, the static in her palms causing it to stand up on end. If he was as vain as he used to be, she'd just committed the biggest crime in Brent's eyes. And there was nothing he could do about it. Shrugging off Brent's hand, she hissed at the cold air reaching her new wound. She'd need to put something on that later-- salve. And probably a bandage. Bandages never hurt, anyway, did they?
Amy turned away from Brent, purposely ignoring him. She kept her arm out of Chase's view. After all, the redhead had grown accustomed to hiding wounds, physical or not, she just did it automatically now. Plus, she didn't want to risk being fussed over. This she could deal with. "Thanks again for that job, Chase. I'm really glad I got it." Ignoring Brent seemed like the only viable option; she'd start shouting otherwise, or something like that. Chase didn't seem to see Brent's obnoxiousness, though, so it seemed like her ex-husband had a friend. Which was more than Amy had, so she couldn't really say anything. The woman might have been a lot of things, but she certainly tried not to be a hypocrite.
