First impressions were everything, so was the common saying. However, in the wide brown eyes of the girl dancing down the road that day, that was just a load of old fashioned bullshit. No one cared. Besides, most people would only be seen once in her life. No one really wanted to stick around for much longer than that. So the first and last impression didn't matter. Which was part of the reason that she took up paintballing when she was ten. Yes, ten, so what? It'd actually been recommended by a psychiatrist. She needed a way to release stress and negative vibes. And, if the steady thud of the paintball gun against her hip was what drained her of pent up negativity, then so be it.
She was just skipping along, trying to find a place where she hadn't been with her paintball gun. Hmm. That phrase was a bit of a mouthful. She stopped in her tracks, frowning down at the object in her hand. Her dagger (which was placed in a holster on the hip that wasn't occupied by the paintball gun's holster) had a name. Belinda. Why couldn't her paintball gun have a name too? She gave a tiny, triumphant nod to it, grinning widely.
Okay. So Belinda was a girl. That meant, clearly, that her paintball gun would have to be a boy. Or else it would't be balanced. But what exactly did one call a paintball gun? She'd named Belinda after her mother, but she couldn't really name her paintball gun after her father. He was still here. And, well, it'd be just... weird. She didn't know. Besides, Belinda had been evil. She needed a name that corresponded with that. Hmmm.
Satan. No, that was too evil. And, frankly, it was just a horrid name anyway. ... Hades? No, too death-ish. Oh, she knew! A huge smile spread across her face. He was a boy. And he would be called Diablo. It sounded pretty cool, she liked it. Okay. Diablo it was, then! That was that issue sorted. Now, where hadn't she been with this thing before? She'd been to the park. She'd been to the town square with Finnybob. ... Hold on. She hadn't been here yet!
She grinned widely as she saw her neighbor walk by. Well, her neighbor. More like the bitchy "I-know-everything-because-I-spent-a-week-in-university-yay-me" guy from the house next to hers. Ugh, he thought he was all that. And that just pissed Natesa off so much. She smirked wickedly, before aiming the gun in his direction. But, just as she pulled the trigger, her nose began to itch in an all too familiar way. She sneezed, pulling the trigger in the process and completely missing her intended target. She heard a metallic clang as it hit some kind of lamppost or something somewhere; she didn't quite see where it had hit.
And now, whatever/whoever it'd hit... people knew she was here, that she was doing that. That it could hurt. And that could get her into trouble. So, only two words came to the Nephilim's head as she opened her lips and muttered quietly to herself.
"Oh shit."

Adam was walking back home from another day of busking. It was a surprisingly nice day despite being freezing cold and winter. The sun was bright- acting only as a source of light, not heat because it’s rays didn’t warm when they touched his skin. No, the bitter chill of winter won that fight.
As he walked he rubbed his ice cold hands together before cupping them against his mouth and using his warm breath to bring them some warmth. Damn he needed some gloves bad. He was just walking by a lamp post when a loud metallic clang from the lamp post sounded that made his heart doing one of those ‘Oh shit. Mini heart-attack time’ jumps. What was that? He moved around to the other side of the lamp post to see a blue splattering of paint that looked like the kind you’d see on walls at a paintball match. He looked around then but didn’t have to look far to find a girl dressed in really vivid red clothing and low and behold, she was holding a gun in her hand and had a rather adorable expression on her face. Kind of like a puppy that has done something bad and knows it.
He looked back at the blue splatter on the lamp post and from where he had been walking by. If she had been an inch to the left and Adam a second ahead…it would’ve probably got him in the face. Whoaaahhh. Shit. That was a close one. He couldn’t help but burst into laughter though “You missed!” He called over to the girl and stuck his tongue out playfully.

Damn hayfever. Even if there weren't really any plants around because of the winter frosts and snows, Natesa was going to blame it on hayfever. It was perfectly reasonable, wasn't it? ...Or hold on. Maybe she was being punished for something. Because never had she ever missed a target before. Not in her entire seventeen-almost-eighteen years of existence. And... well, the feeling of missing, even though it hadn't exactly happened by purpose, sucked royally.
It wasn't her fault though, was it? Not her fault she sneezed. Well, okay, technically it was, but still. That didn't matter, did it? No. She'd still missed. Ugh, she was even confusing herself now. Okay, she'd go from the top. She'd fired her paintball gun. She'd missed the intended target. Hold on. Intended target. It'd hit somewhere. She'd even heard a noise. The noise. It was kind of... metallic. Okay. It'd hit something made of metal. That eliminated a person, unless they liked to wear metal clothes or were the tin man or something.
As the teen stared down at Diablo, trying to puzzle over where the paintball had hit, a voice jarred her from her train of thought. She whipped around quickly on her heel. A bit too quickly, actually, so that she felt dizzy. It felt... kind of awesome. She spun around again just for the sake of it, snickering as she did so, and turned toward the source of the voice. A boy, not much older than herself, sticking his tongue out at her. She lifted an eyebrow, with her cheeky little grin on her face as she snapped her fingers.
"Ah, damnit." she chuckled in reply, adding a little wistful tone to her voice. How much had she missed him by, though? She bounded over to the lamppost (which now looked much better with the pretty blue splat decorating it) and bit her lip in concentration.
"Hrrrm," she sounded as she placed one finger against the lamppost, the other against the boy's temple, and then looked at the distance between the two. Wasn't far. No, wasn't far at all. "Ahhhh. Looook. I missed by that much." she half-whined, gesturing with her fingers, though she couldn't help but laugh as she did. This was... kind of funny to her, for some unknown reason. Maybe it was the fact that he'd been so damn laid back about it. That was definitely rare.

The nephilm teen had an amused smirk on his face as the girl bounded over to him to assess how close she had been to getting Adam, placing one finger on the lamp post and one on Adam’s temple. Playfully, Adam grrr’d, turned his head and lightly nipped the girl’s finger. Not hard enough to hurt but enough to feel his teeth. “I’m glad you missed. I my birthday’s in a couple of days and I don’t like the idea of spending it in the hospital” He chuckled. Man, if that paintball had hit in the temple it would’ve probably knocked him out. Despite it all the idea of being K.O’d on the street with a blue paintball mark on his face made him laugh.
“Can I know the name of the beautiful girl who almost knocked me clean out?” He asked with a smirk and a small snicker at how it was like one of those lame pick up lines that just made you want to cringe, but in his defense- in this case it just happened to be that she did almost knock him out. As he looked at her closer then Adam saw that the girl was very pretty, with dark eyes that had a flicker of mischief and playfulness in them and hair wavy dark brown hair that fell to her shoulders. He couldn’t stop his eyes from travelling down her body too- which was slender but didn’t lack in curves at all and well, she had a really nice ass. Okay, she had nice breasts too from what he could see; average in size but her ass won out between the two of them.
Not wanting to seem rude because yeah, he wasn’t that much of a rude guy, he was quick to lift his gaze back to meet her dark walnut eyes “Name’s Adam.” He introduced himself with a small, playful smirk on his face and held out his hand.

The nephilim's eyes widened in slight surprise when she felt teeth nip lightly at her finger. It didn't hurt at all. In fact, just the opposite. It kind of tickled, actually, making her laugh lightly at him. Well. That'd certainly never happened before. She liked this one. He was fun, the exact opposite of most of the people she'd met in Alderres who couldn't take a joke. Oh, and it was his birthday in a couple of days? That made her bob up and down slightly in some kind of weird excitement. Birthdays meant parties. And Natesa just loved parties. "Ooh, your birthday?" she said interestedly. "Yay for you! How old will you beeee?"
She couldn't help but roll her eye's at the boy's cheesy comment, even if t was sort of true. She chuckled, though, shaking her head. He'd called her beautiful, too, sooo... the corniness could be excused. To some extent. Maybe. Kind of. And then it kind of registered that he'd asked a question. Her name. Riiiight. She knew that one! "My name? That's--"
She cut herself of as she saw his eyes roaming her body, her ass in particular. Now, any normal girl would probably have been at least slightly offended. But Natesa just found that funny. She hadn't the slightest inkling why she did; it was't like she hadn't got those looks before. But, considering she'd almost landed him in hospital, it was hilarious to her. "Take a picture if you want, mate~" she snickered cheerily, pushing her walnut hair behind one ear. "It lasts longer."
Now, it wasn't that Natesa hadn't noticed the boy's - Adam's - oustretched hand before. But, now that she looked at it again, a new thought sparked in her mind. Oh, how incredibly cliched it was. But at the same time, she found it pretty awesome too. She grinned her little, mischievous grin, and took Adam's hand in her own, shaking it. "Natesa." she introduced herself, just before sending a small pulse of electricity through her body and into him.
