You know how there are rules and laws that people are supposed to follow? Well, Max doesn't exactly believe in those kind of things. With his powers, he's able to go and do whatever the fuck he wants without anyone really knowing. He loved his power for that reason. He had almost complete freedom. Either way, when someone told him he couldn't just go into Carford... well. He didn't listen. In fact. It gave the opposite effect. He went straight out into the forest and sneaked into Carford using his powers. It was actually fairly simple.
He had explored a bit, mostly invisible. He wasn't sure what someone would do if they found out he technically lived in Alderres. But there was a war going on... so the likelihood of people liking him visiting was kind of little to none. He did know his Dede lived in Carford... but he wasn't sure where. He hadn't seen Mori that many times in his life, but he always got a letter on his birthday. Max thought maybe he should ask around and see where he lived... but for now he wanted to sit on the pier and look at the water.
Max was still invisible as he looked out across the water. His mind flickered to Kate. He wondered what she was doing at the moment. He missed her more than he wanted to admit to himself or anyone else for that matter. He missed her smile more than anything. He took a deep sigh and climbed on the rail of the pier. He sat down on it and looked down into the water more. It was so peaceful. Max could feel his powers starting to fade on him. He knew he wouldn't have much longer before they wore off. He hoped the Carford people didn't figure out he was from Alderres.

It wasn't often that Mori forwent his daily walk in favor of a fly, but he'd been walking with Dane most days, so that sort of limited things, and the muscles in his back were starting to get soft and restless. So that morning, while his boyfriend read in the library, he decided to shake things up and take to the air.
He had been cruising the skies of Carford for a good fifteen minutes when he reached the boardwalk. All seemed business as usual. The water was cold and brightly reflecting the sun. There were children chasing one another down the pier, older children smoking beneath it. The angel was ready to pass it all by when something caught his eye - a flicker on the railing. The flicker slowly faded into the form of a person. Curious, he set down a few yards away from him on the pier. The boy looked familiar, but he couldn't quite place his finger on it. He didn't see him around town often, in any case.
"Lovely morning," he commented, strolling toward the no-longer-invisible-man. His wings shook out, letting the feathers rearrange themselves after being so windswept.

Max finally gave in and let his powers flicker off. It didn't matter. There wasn't anyone around at the moment anyways. He briefly considered jumping in the water... but didn't think he'd enjoy walking back to Judd's house soaking wet. Even more... he didn't think Judd would like him walking into his house soaking wet either. Not that Max would actually care... but meh. He heard wings flapping... but didn't think much more than there was a bird or something around here until he heard someone speak behind him. Max flipped around and looked into the face that had spoke.
He recognized him immediately. Of course he did. It wasn't like Moriel ever changed. His face scrunched in a huge smile. It seemed like he didn't have to ask around to find him after all. He was right here, and he didn't seem to fully recognize him. Max flipped backwards off the rail and landed on his feet rather gracefully before turning and practically jumping into Mori's arms, yelling "Dede!". He was just a bit on the hyper side... but then again. When wasn't he. "I haven't seen you in forever!"

The hug was unexpected, to say the least, but Moriel's first reaction was laughter at the extreme enthusiasm directed toward him. He supposed by the words spoke - or rather shrieked - to him, that this boy was one of his many descendants. Hugging the young man back, the angel then pulled back and held onto him by his shoulders. Inspecting his face, Moriel caught the boy's chin in his hand and turned his head to one side and then the other until he could properly place the face.
A grin spread his lips wide. "Annette's boy," he said. "Maxwell. You'll have to forgive me, but I think the last time I saw you, you were about a foot shorter." He laughed and hugged Max again, before stepping back and really looking the young man over. He had grown up quite well. "This is a very pleasant surprise. I didn't know you had moved to the island. Your aunt Ida is still here, my daughter Angela, and your cousin Adam, though he's in Alderres."

Max let Mori get a good look at him. It had been a long time, he would give him that. Max had grown up quite a bit since then and probably looked a lot different. He was pretty impressed Mori got his mother's name by looking at his face and remembering. Max knew he probably had quite a bit of grand kids out there. Max stuck his hands in his front pockets and let Mori look at him. When he mentioned Adam... well Max had to laugh. Of course he knew Adam was living in Alderres. Max was too. In fact. He was bouncing between Jude's and Adam's house.
"I'm actually here because of Adam. He's my best mate. We met in New York City, Dede. He plays bass! And I play guitar. We both sing and our friends play guitar and drums too and it's awesome." Max explained to Mori with a huge smile still. "But I actually live in Alderres. With Adam... I just snuck over here to explore... someone told me I couldn't, so naturally I came." Max told him with a smirk on his face. He wasn't a big one for rules and loved doing things people told him not to.
"I'll drag Adam over sometime and we'll see Aunt Ida and your daughter. It'll be fun. I'm not sure... I might be able to make Adam invisible long enough to sneak over." Max had been working on his powers lately, but hadn't been entirely successful. Max took one of his hands and ran it through his hair before stuffing it back in his pocket, his face nothing but a smile.
