Bree just smiled softly and shook her head. Why should she stop thanking him? He was helping her out of a shit load of trouble here. And what made it even better was that he didn't even have to do it. He was just...doing it. But Bree didn't know whether or not it was just to protect his status in the army or his credibility as a general. Who knew. She certainly didn't. But hey. He still needed to be thanked. Bree didn't really deserve the help out of her situation because it was her who'd been an idiot in the first place.
"Seriously, it's cool." she said, with an almost cursory roll of her shoulders. "I think you should be thanked. You don't have to help, and yet you are, so...yeah. Thanks." She nodded. It might be thrown back at her again, but she didn't care at all. It was all good; she knew she'd done what she had to. And that was really all she needed. She wouldn't feel bad about this later.
And also, he'd just given his word that she'd be safe in his house. A soldier's word was never one that was taken lightly. Bree knew that fairly well. She'd never heard of a promise being broken that had been made by a soldier. Wasn't it part of some kind of oath they took or something? Bree wasn't quite sure, but she had a feeling that Shane was being honest with her. Well, rather she didn't have the feeling. If she did, that would have started alarm bells ringing in her mind.
She smiled as he set a glass of iced tea in front of her, and gave a dismissive flap of her hand when he apologised for not offering a drink beforehand. "S'alright, Shane," she said with another shrug as she lifted the glass from the coaster he'd set it on. She took a sip from the glass, replaced it,, and looked up at him. "So," she said diplomatically, "What happens now?"
