~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane was back in Carford and back in his uniform. He sighed as he grabbed his jacket and the slip of paper that was handed to him by his commander. The slip was a list of things that needed to be bought and Shane actually volunteered to go. he could have asked a subordinate but he didn't. Since he got back from his recon mission in Alderres, Alexander was all he could think about.
The last item on his list was a bouquet of red and white roses. He didn't know what they were for but he never dared to ask since it was his commander asking for it. It may be for the dinning table. Shane knew well the taste of his commander and what makes his not tic at everyone else. He pushed the flower shop's door open and called out.
"Hello? Anyone here?" He called out softly. He looked straight stiff with his uniform press and clean.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] // Tagged: Bree & Brent // Notes: Flowers For Sale?

Bree hadn't really been up to much that day. The shop had been rather quiet, just the odd customer here and there. So all Bree had been doing was pratting around in the back with a guitar and her notebook, occasionally filling in an order form or two, perhaps doing a bit of inventory here and there. Nothing really major, just part and parcel of owning a shop. She'd done all the important things, like the bills and accounting, at the beginning of the month, so she didn't really need to bother with much else.
She put her guitar down for a moment to scribble down a few chords, when the small bell that was above the door rang, meaning that someone had just come in. Oh, yes. Something to do. She smiled, and quickly jumped up from her chair at hearing a soft, male voice call out. This customer had just saved her from a black pit of boredom, so she was grateful to them.
"Yes, sir, I'm here." she said to him in polite reply as she breezed into the main shop area. The man was dressed in a military uniform, she guessed he was here on some special job. Though that really didn't make much sense. Maybe he was on his way home from work, and wanted to pick something up for someone? That sounded much more plausible.
She smiled warmly at the man. "How can I help you, sir?" she asked brightly. But not too brightly, just polite enough. That was really all she needed. She didn't want to make him think she was trying to be overly friendly, just professional. "Are you picking up an order, or just browsing, or whatever?"

Friends did that… it wouldn’t be too weird, would it? It wasn’t like he’d be gone too long anyway, Neon Tiger would manage just fine if he were elsewhere for a little while and left his other worker in charge. They seemed perfectly capable of not making a complete mess of things without Brent there to keep an eye out for any problems that could occur.
He exited his store, making sure to give the guy behind the counter his best ‘fuck up and prepare to be murdered’ glare on the way out. Letting out a deep breath, Brent slammed the door behind him on his way out (he always hated it when the door didn’t get shut properly and it got chilly inside) and straightened his pink blazer before making his way to The First of Spring. He’d been there many times before though they had all been over a year ago. Of course he still remembered exactly where it was located.
When Brent reached his friend’s florist, he pushed open the door, being careful not to do so with enough force that it slammed back into the wall as that was his usual manner of making an entrance. As well as Bree herself, there was also a customer in the florists too. Brent was pretty certain that this customer was a demon, he just had that aura about him that he thought he could detect. He still wasn’t sure though, Brent often made mistakes with these sorts of things. “Uh, I thought I’d just pop ‘round and say ‘hi’. So, uh, hi.”
Brent told her with a slight shrug of his shoulders, feeling strangely awkward. He glanced between Bree and the man in uniform, unsure of what else to say.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] ♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒♒OUTFIT: Clicky! ♒ WORDS: 316 ♒ NOTES: :3 ♒ TAGGED: Shane, Bree

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane looked around and was a bit startled when a woman came out. He was too busy trying to look at the flowers he needed. Then he remembered hi list and pulled it out from his back pocket after he placed the bags he was carrying on the floor. He smiled back at her as he knew it was the right thing to do."I was sent to buy a bouquet of red and white roses. A dozen each if you have that much available." he toldher politely.
Then someone came in and it was someone he knew not. The new comer was a demon and Shane knew it well. So he didn't pay much attention to him. He turned back to the florist and smiled again. Then it was just that very moment that he noticed her aura and scent. She was a fallen. Though he knew not what type of fallen, Shane was sure of the fact that inside the First of Spring, there were two demons and a fallen. How wonderful it was. To among your own kind.

Bree nodded at the customer, and smiled once again at his warm, polite tone. " 'Course. Just hold on one second," she replied, and went to go over to the small counter where she prepared the flowers and the like. The stems were a little long; she'd need to cut a couple inches off of those. And then there were the leaves, and the wrapping. Flower arrangement and selling was harder than most people thought it was. There was a lot of math involved. Symmetry, measures, shapes - a lot.
She heard the little bell above the door ring once again, and internally sighed. Well, the peace and quiet had been nice while it lasted. She was starting to think she'd have a lot to deal with tonight. That was, until she heard Brent's voice. She turned around, and smiled at him. He seemed slightly awkward as he rolled his shoulders casually, so she decided she'd try to make things easier. "Well, hi Brent." she said. "Stick around if you want, I'm just dealing with this gentleman here."
She pulled the roses that the man had asked for out of a small, black bucket of water, and began to sort them out accordingly. Clipping the stems, removing the leaves, and dethorning. That was hard - every time she did that, she would prick herself at least once. This time was surprisingly injury free though, just one small scratch. She was having a good day, she guessed.
She wrapped up the flowers quickly, it only took her about 10 seconds. She'd been doing it for years, so she'd gradually gotten faster until she could do it that quickly. She smiled, and handed the customer the flowers. She went over to the till, and went to open the drawer or the money, but she shut it again. "Y'know what? she said. "Seeing as I haven't seen you around here before, keep the money. Have those as a, y'know, thanks for coming." She gave the man a grin. "Unless you really want to pay, which I doubt you do. So yeah." she laughed.

Now that he thought about it, that was probably quite a bad thing that Brent very rarely smiled at anything, not properly. Sometimes he’d manage a kind of half-smirk half-smile though… on a good day. Brent remembered back to when he was often joking around and it would be strange for him not to be smiling. How could he smile like he used to when his old life had been taken away from him now by those demons? He was starting to realise that life would’ve been a whole lot easier if he’d stayed in Heaven but it wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting. “Sure.” he replied, walking further inside the florists and leaning against the wall.
He was hoping whoever this customer was, a) didn’t notice that Brent was also a demon and b) wouldn’t point it out in any way if he did. Brent was pretty sure that Bree still thought that he was a Fallen. It would be best to keep things that way, right? He was certain that she wouldn’t take the news of his recent corruption very well. He knew himself how much Bree didn’t want to become a demon.
His eyes narrowed a little seeing Bree give away a bouquet for free. What was she, mad? Brent could hardly believe it. There was far too much niceness and generosity going on here, he didn’t like it one bit. Where was the anger? The violence? Brent clenched his fists and concentrated on just staying calm. This was Bree’s shop he could potentially ruin if he let his temper get the better of him. Not to mention the fact that this other demon looked rather important and therefore would supposedly be more powerful than him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane smirked as he watched Bree move slowly across the room. He was using his powers to slow time down. He knew that Brent, the other being, could probably feel him using his power. Then he returned back time to the way it was. He had a smirk on his face. But since the florist was nice to him, he smiled back at her politely.
"Well, I need to pay for it since they don't belong to me. But thank you for the gesture. And for a fallen to be kind to a demon and be friends with a demon is quite a rare thing." Shane said as he turned to looked at Brent. Shane was smirking as he took the bunch of flowers from the florist. He scanned the room and looked around if there was something he could buy as an additional for his commander.

Bree merely shrugged, and opened up the till. "I guess you're right. Honesty is the best policy and all. Which it most certainly is." She gave another bright, sunny laugh and told him the price. A fiver. That was quite a decent price, she thought. She actually knew some places that would charge almost twice that. But it wasn't about what she gained from the store, it was other people that were important. She didn't want to have to charge more than what she did; she could get by on what she had.
She nodded at the man's thanks. "S'alright," she said. "I like to do that. Y'know, as a welcome, and a thanks, and stuff. You can say a lot with flowers." She smiled as the man handed her the money, gave him the change he needed, and closed the till. "Thanks, sir. Anything el-"
She stopped dead in her tracks at the man's words. Friends...with a demon? What? Bree didn't know any demons, she was certain of that. Well, except the gentleman that was standing in front of her now (he was surprisingly polite and well mannered. Probably something to do with the uniform). And...and Adam. Though she didn't really know him anymore. Or at least, she didn't want to.
So who was this man talking about?
She looked up from the till slowly, trying to process what the man had said. The smile that she had on her face was still there, but now it had taken on a confused look. "Oh, I'm sorry sir, I don't quite...I don't quite follow. I don't think I know any...well, not personally, but...I don't think I know any de-" And once again, she stopped. Because, the smirk on the man's face had drifted over to Brent.
Brent? No, Brent was a Fallen. Justice, if she rightly remembered. Which she was sure she did. But there was something about Brent now that she looked. His aura...his scent...oh, god. No. Brent...he was still a Fallen, he couldn't be...
"Wait, what's going on?" Bree said, turning to Brent. "Brent? What's he saying?" She remained externally calm, still smiling puzzledly, breathing evenly. When really, her heart was beginning to pound, and paranoia starting to gnaw at her gut. No...oh god, no...

Unless that was just his mind playing tricks on him. A little confused, Brent glanced over at the demon, taking a few moments to realise the man must be using his powers to slow down time. Brent didn’t feel comfortable with him using his powers and didn’t like the smirk on his face either. With some difficulty, Brent just about managed to begin to cancel out the other man’s powers by using his own, giving him a stern look as he did so.
He almost set the demon on fire when hearing him manage to say to Bree about being friends with a demon and then very obviously looking over at Brent. If he let his rage take control now, Brent knew he’d only end up proving that he was no longer a Fallen. Brent was almost shaking with anger. He stared back at the other demon, face cold but a raging fire in his dark eyes. Then Brent looked over at Bree, lying through his teeth and completely forgetting that his next words would surely hurt her; “Don’t ask me. There’s obviously something wrong with him. I think I would know if I were a demon.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ shane's smirk widen as the florist began to question the other being in the room. And it had occurred to Shane that maybe she didn't know. This was going to be afun afternoon. he cleared hi throat. Rest assured madam that I mean not this gentleman with me. You have a faint scent of demon around you. Like you have been close to one not too long ago. Which I know I am sure of." Shane said with a short bow to her. he was still a bit irritated that the other man had cancelled out his ability. Power of Negation, how quaint. He smiled at her.
Shane didn't know why the other demon was lying to the fallen but if she finds out, he meaning the other man, was going to be in trouble with her.Something Shane would love to see. So he was going to see how far the man was going to lie. And Shane could feel the anger coming from him as well. Shane could feel himself getting stronger already. He smirked wider
"Do you have any problems with befriending a demon, madam? I do not think we're all that bad. Some yes, and others worse. But not all demons are alike." Shane spoke. It was true. Bree's eyes narrowed slightly. What was this? She didn't like it. She was sure it was just some sick, twisted game But the slight change in Brent's aura and scent begged to differ. And his general personality, too. He seemed so much angrier than he had before. The old Brent seemed long gone, now that she came to think of it. At first, she'd put it down to the grieving process. But...now she was beginning to think that it was something far more sinister.
And that was only confirmed when Brent spoke, sweeping the concerns to one side. Bree should have felt relief. But, before she even had time to respond, to feel anything, a strong wave of pain hit her hard. She put her head in her hands, and she hissed in pain. Damn it. Damnit damnit damnit damnit damnit! That pain...oh god...it was all-too-familiar. Brent was lying! Lying!
Her breaths became shorter, sharper as the pain began to subside. She put a hand over her eyes, and as her breathing once again began to even out, she removed her hand and gave Brent an icy look. "Well, thanks for that, Brent." she said calmly, evenly. Like she wasn't internally freaking out about how her best friend had become a demon and failed to warn-tell her. "Thanks for telling me as well. Really appreciated it."
She turned back to the other man. "Oh, no, I'm not like that." she said. "Other races don't bother me." She glanced at Brent. "What bothers me is when I am apparently the last to know things." She couldn't help being annoyed. This was her best friend. Weren't best friends supposed to trust each other entirely? Bree would've understood. Heck, she would've helped. But no. She couldn't know, could she?
She shrugged a little. "Doesn't matter, though." A smile returned to her face, though slightly weaker than it was before. "I've just had a few...bad experiences..." She still couldn't believe that Brent hadn't told her anything! Why? Why hadn't he? ...Why did he have to become a demon in the first place? She just...didn't understand.

It was being forced out of him, making him weaker since anger was what he fed off of. It had to be the other demon doing it, who Brent now realised was also a Demon of Wrath. This guy had to be stronger than him, judging not just by his uniform but his ability to weaken Brent like this. The worst thing was that although Brent was growing weaker, if he tried to do anything about it then there was no way Bree would still be convinced that he was still a Fallen.
Brent only remembered that it caused Bree and great amount of pain when somebody lied. His eyes widened and he felt like hitting himself when seeing how he’d hurt her. Great, just fucking great. Now she’d know for sure. And he’d managed to cause her pain during the process. He was mostly expecting the glare he received from his best friend; he glared right back at her, gaining strength from her anger. “I thought it would be easier if you didn’t know. Okay?” he told her, “I was protecting you from the truth. ‘Cause, let’s face it, me being a demon isn’t because of anything good.”
He didn’t want Bree to know of the things he’d done that had been the cause of him losing his feathered wings, however bad he felt for keeping this whole thing a secret from her. It wasn’t as if it was something he was going to keep from Bree forever… just as long as he could manage it.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Shane smirked as he had his fill of anger. He licked his lips in a split second and smirked. Brent's anger was delicious. And Shane was going to have someone find out what they can of this Brent being. He was a fallen turned demon? Hmmm.... Interesting. And it had sparked Shane's curiosity. Why did Brent have to hide it from the florist. She was a fallen... A watcher... And from the change of facial expression she had earlier, she was of Honesty. Any lie being told to her, she's feel pain. How wonderful. Shane would have loved to torture her a little if not only she had been kind to him. He sighed.
Shane paid for the flowers and bent down to grab the other bags he had with him.
"I can already sense the long conversation you both are about to have. And as much as I would have loved to stay and listen and watch, I must take my leave now. Thank you, Madam. Bree was just rooted to the spot she was standing on, refusing to make eye contact with Brent, her eyes fixed on the floor of the shop. Well. She thought she'd made things awkward between the pair on their reunion. But nope. He'd had to go and drop another bombshell on the whole thing. Not only was he alive and had failed to notify her, but now he was a demon too? What the heck was going on?!
She was seething. Her anger wasn't external, but to the demon - no, demons - in the room, it was probably palpable. She could actually feel her anger fading away. One of them was feeding off of it, just savouring it. She would have felt even angrier had it not been for the fact that she already felt a little too weak to be too angry. She just kept her crisp, blue gaze on the floor. She just refused to make eye contact. It was as simple as that.
However, she looked up and nodded when the man politely excused himself. "Sir, don't feel obliged to leave or anything," she said, her too quiet, too calm. "Leave because you feel that you've done here, not because I'm having a bit of an issue. I'm not going to make you go anywhere." She attempted a smile, and managed to do it, even if it was a slightly weak smile.
But then, she turned to Brent, still not meeting his chocolate brown eyes. "But yeah, you're right," she said, still talking to the customer. "We are about to have a long conversation. Aren't we, Brent." A stony expression washed over her features. She didn't say that like it was a question, because it wasn't. It was a statement. Yep they were going to have a long conversation. About what the heck had just happened. About everything that she had missed.

He'd get him back someday, when there was nobody around that would try and land Brent in any trouble for whatever he was going to do to the man. There was no way Brent was going to let him get away with this without getting his revenge, that was for sure. Brent scowled at the man and he prepared to leave. There was a part of his mind wishing for him to stay though, that way he probably wouldn't be forced to have this conversation with Bree. Not sure on which option he was going for, Brent just stayed quiet, continuing to gain energy from Bree's anger without really thinking about it.
Trying to figure out what exactly he was going to say to Bree (knowing that, of course, he wasn't going to be able to escape from explaining at least some of things that had happened), Brent glared determinedly down at the floor. Great, yeah, long conversation. Of course. "Fine. But you're not gonna like what you hear. At all."
