Dane had to say that he liked this better. He liked going to bed and knowing Mori was going to come into the room and lay with him. He hadn't had that before with anyone and he had to admit it felt nice and relaxing. Knowing you had someone's arms to cuddle into at night made things better in a way. Of course... they were only doing it because it kept Dane's nightmare's away and Mori staying in the chair all night was just too ridiculous. Of course that's why... there couldn't be any other reason.
He was happy at the lighthouse. He really was. It was beautiful and peaceful, and Mori was there. Mori was always a plus because he proved to be one of the only things that could truly make Dane smile. Dane hadn't done much since his time in the lighthouse, but he did read a lot. He was trying to make a dent in the amount of books Mori had, but he wasn't sure he would live that long. Mori seemed to have collected books more than anything in his time on the Earth.
Nothing changed the fact that Moriel slept with Dane every night until one day he came home from some meeting or another and told Dane he was off to have a nap. Dane didn't think much of it until it came time that he wanted to go to bed and Mori was still sleeping. He didn't want to wake the angel up, so he decided just to go to bed. Hopefully the dreams would stay away even though they weren't sleeping together. He changed into pajamas and laid down. It took him a little longer to fall asleep, not having someone with him, but he seemed to fall asleep.
The nightmares, however, didn't seem to stay away. As soon as his mind brought him to the dream state, he was back on the battle field and in the middle of a battle. He saw people dying around him and there was nothing he could do to save them because he had to protect the few people right next to him and himself. He was using his powers to keep bullets away, but they only worked so much. He didn't scream like he did for most nightmares. Instead he woke up sweating with tears falling out of his eyes. He wanted Mori, and he wanted him now. Dane grabbed his pillow and left his room, walking up to Mori's room and pushing it open before knocking on it quietly. He was still sleeping, and Dane considered just crawling into bed with him, but thought maybe he shouldn't do that. "M-Mori?" He called out timidly, he didn't want to make him mad for waking him up or something, although he was pretty sure Mori wouldn't get mad. "I-I had a nightmare. C-can I crawl into bed with you?" Dane asked him, hoping he would be able to hear him.

He woke to a familiar voice, soft and fearful. The angel was sprawled on his stomach under the covers, clad only in boxers and a t-shirt. It wasn't his usual bedtime apparel. When Mori got home that day, he had merely stripped off and collapsed into unconsciousness. His wings stuck out behind him, one curled at his back and the other hanging lazily over the side of the bed. As he blinked awake, Mori took in Dane's form, silhouetted against the faint hallway light.
How long had he been asleep? A glance toward his window confirmed that it was well into the night. He had overslept, then, and left Dane to sleep on his own. "Sorry," he murmured, voice thick with sleep. "I didn't think I would sleep so long." Rolling onto his side, Mori lifted the blankets, baring himself and the other side of the bed. "Come on, then. Plenty of room," he assured Dane with a groggy smile. Even in this state, Dane had this absurd beauty about him. With hair ruffled and his expression shaken, there was still a strength about him, a light.
He'd been staring. Mori averted his eyes to the bed.

Dane was glad when it seemed to wake Mori up. He had looked so adorable sleeping like that. Dane felt bad for waking him up bug knew the nightmares wouldn't go away unless he was with Mori, he still purposely didn't try to figure out why that was. That was assuming he would be able to at all. Maybe Mori had a special angel power or something.
Dane didn't waste any time climbing into the bed when Mori moved and gave him room. This kind of situation made him seem like a big child... and admittedly he kind of was. Having nightmares... needing to sleep with someone. It was all too like a child with a lot of fears.
"I'm sorry for waking you... I tried sleeping but I had a nightmare and I didn't want to have it again." Dane explained in a whisper as he snuggled into Mori like he always did. He felt right here. He noticed Mori staring, but he would too if he just got woke up by someone coming into his room like he had just come into Mori's so he passed it off as nothing. He snuggled closer. He had missed this.

Pulling Dane against his chest, Moriel's exhaustion allowed him to let his guard down like he had rarely been able to do. He tucked Dane's head under his chin and wrapped an arm around him. For once, the angel couldn't care less that he was barely dressed, that they were two grown men curled together in the dark. He was just glad to be there. Under his breath, he sleepily began murmuring a lullaby he'd sang to his children for centuries, an old Turkish one. Dandini dandini dastana Danalar girmiş bostana Kov bostancı danayı Yemesin lahanayı
Dandini dandini danadan Bir ay doğmuş anadan Kaçınmamış yaradan Mevla korusun nazardan...
As the words flowed softly from his lips, they became slower, heavier, until he fell asleep. Moriel woke the next morning before Dane and lie there for quite some time, holding him and thinking about what he was supposed to do here. Things had gotten out of hand. How was he to suppress these feelings when he had Dane in his arms every night? Did he even want to anymore? The anxiety began to creep in, creasing his eyes at the corners as he stared at the ceiling.

Dane felt even calmer when he heard Mori start to sing something. He couldn't understand what it was, be it relaxed him anything. He was fairly certain Mori could have been barfing and he would have thought the sound was relaxing. Okay, maybe not... but the point was he thought Mori was heavenly. Get it? Heavenly. 'Cause he's an angel and all and it's like music to Dane's ears and Angels play harps, right? Dane thought they did. He took a deep breath and drifted off to sleep, nightmare free.
When he woke up, he still felt Dane underneath him with his arms around him. The perfect way to wake up int he morning if Dane had anything to do with it... but that would be wrong, right? Should Dane like waking up in the arms of a man? He would think about it later. Or... he would ignore thinking about it later. He moved around a bit and stretched his hips, not realizing they bumped into the side of Mori. Normally he wouldn't care, but this particular morning his member decided to hate him. Dane pulled his hips back and hoped Mori didn't feel it because if he had... that might be a bit awkward.

He felt Dane rousing beside him and was about to say 'good morning' when something else said good morning to him instead. Moriel's eyes went a bit wider and he froze. It meant nothing, a simple physiological reaction that often happened during sleep. There was nothing to it. But it definitely sent his thoughts in a rather unholy direction.
"Ah, good morning," he finally managed, sitting up quickly. He looked at the wall away from Dane and rubbed at the back of his neck, down to the base of his wings. "You slept well, then, I suppose?" Mori cringed after the words had left his mouth. That didn't sound right. "Not that - I only meant that you slept a long while. That's good. The sleep, that is. Oh, not that..." He shook his head and made himself drop the subject.
The angel stood and his wings spread behind him. He kept his hips angled out of Dane's sight, worried he might have his own simple, physiological reaction. I apologize for oversleeping yesterday." he told him.

He felt it. He had to of fucking felt it because there wasn't a chance in hell that anyone would miss a reaction like that when it was pressed against him. Fuck. Dane was stupid. How could he have moved before he realized that and why did he had to basically tell Mori about it. Because that was what he did. He fucking told him. Dane closed his eyes when Mori got up, there was no reason to talk about it. Maybe he was just freaking out. Not likely. But maybe.
He coughed awkwardly and sat up. "Yeah. I slept well. Thanks... sorry I just... you know. Came in and such." Dane was blushing like mad right now and he should really just leave. Dane looked up wide eyed and decided he should just leave. "I should go... uhm. Shower. And get dressed and stuff like that. I'll catch you around? Well... obviously. We live in the same house but uh. Movie later or something?" Dane was an idiot. He turned to just leave but realized he shut the door last night and ran into that instead. He put a hand on his head and muttered stupidly. "Door..." He rolled his eyes at himself and opened the door before dashing to his room.

Moriel's anxiety over his feelings developed a new edge after that: frustration. He continued sharing a bed with Dane, continued sitting close to him on the couch and standing a bit too close when they walk. What changed is how frequently the angel found himself locked in his room later, tending to those frustrations or trying vainly to fight them off.
After one such occasion, he found himself standing in the lantern room, his forehead and one hand pressed to the cool glass. His wings spread behind him at full length. That was one advantage of the barrenness of this room - he had room to stretch. Mori stared out at the sea. They said the sea symbolized emotion, because it was constantly moving, unpredictable and uncontrollable. Because it contained such depths that man could never know. The waves at the base of the tower were churning, striking against the rocks with unusual ferocity. Moriel knew it was his doing. He could stop it if he wished, but he did not.
With a sigh, he closed his eyes and tried to feed his emotions into those waves, let them take the feelings away as they slid down off the rocks.

Dane felt so bad about what happened in the morning that he stayed in his room for awhile. That was after he took care of himself in the shower of course. He actually couldn't remember the last time he had done that, so it was good that he was doing it, he thought. He purposely blocked out the fact that when he... you know, Mori's face was in his mind and he couldn't get it out. He hadn't... that hadn't happened before and he wasn't sure what it meant. He passed it off as Mori was the last person he had seen, so surely he was fresh on his mind.
He stayed in the room and read for awhile. He decided that maybe he should leave Mori some space because he felt bad about it. He didn't know why he felt bad about it... because that was normal right? Waking up with a hard on? Dane thought so... he did it all the time when he wasn't in a bed with Mori. It wasn't anything weird... or was it. Dane didn't just want to hide out all day, so he decided to go up to the lantern room. It caught his attention since the first time Mori brought him there and he loved it. When he went in there, however. He noticed Mori was there. Dane automatically blushed. "S-sorry. I'll just... go back downstairs or something."

The sounds of steps on the floor below did not stir him from his reverie, but Dane's voice did. Moriel turned and looked at him, expression unreadable. "No, stay," he said quickly. The waves below settled as he took in the image before him. Framed against the backdrop of the shoreline, Dane looked so striking. Mori knew he was staring, but he couldn't quite help himself.
"I haven't seen much of you these days, it seems," he commented, breaking the eye contact at last. The angel took a few steps toward his friend, gaze on the sea. "I hope Angela hasn't been bothering you with all of this redecorating. I warned you she might get carried away." That was how he had kept himself occupied this past week - helping his daughter in her quest to make his home fashionable.
But even when he had tried to be around Dane, it was like finding a ghost most days. Ever since that night when Dane slept in Moriel's bed, the only times he saw him was when they slept or watched movies. And now, when he saw Mori here, his first instinct was to leave? Perhaps he had realized... "Have I done something to offend you?" he asked.

Has it been days? Dane supposed he had been hiding for that long. He wasn't sure why he was hiding. Maybe he was... afraid that Mori would bring it up? Or that he was afraid of his real feelings, even though his thoughts hadn't come to that. He didn't want to think that so he wasn't going to. Simple as that. Dane knew it wasn't good to ignore him, and now Mori thought it was his fault. He didn't want that to happen. He really didn't.
Dane shook his head and climbed up the rest of the way, shutting the door behind him. "No... you didn't do anything. I was just. Uhm. Giving you- us- me, space?" Dane questioned as he spoke it. Changing who he was giving the space to each time because it didn't sound good if he said giving him space. But was that what he was doing? No... he was giving himself space. No maybe he wasn't? Dane was so confused he didn't know left and right at the moment. He walked over to the glass wall and leaned his back against it while putting both of his hands in his hair frustratedly. "I'm sorry. I just... I don't know anymore." Dane told him honestly.

The frustration on Dane's face confused him. What did he have to be so confused about? Was he still concerned about the incident with his...reaction? Of course, it had been a bit strange and awkward for the two of them to find themselves in such a position. Still, it was natural. It was nothing to be caught up on for so long...was it?
"Something's bothering you," he surmised, cocking his head to the side. He studied the exasperation in his posture. "If it's not something I've done...and I know you've been sleeping well enough...what is it?" All he had wanted was to help Dane feel better, and to see him in such a state once again was disheartening, to say the least.
Mori walked over and placed a hand on Dane's shoulder, like he had often done to comfort him. "You know, whatever it is that's bothering you, I'm right here whenever you need me." And he let his guard down without meaning to. For just the briefest of moments, it was written all over his face, in his eyes when he looked into Dane's face.

Was something bothering him? Well... yes. He knew something was bothering him but he wasn't sure what? Was it the whole thing that happened in the bed? He wasn't sure that was it anymore, but he didn't know what else it could be. He felt the hand on his shoulder and didn't know how he should respond to it. He felt the comforting. He always felt the comforting coming from Mori and he liked it. He liked feeling safe and he liked the feeling his wings gave Dane when they surrounded him. He liked everything that Mori made him feel. But what was everything that he felt.
Dane looked up at Mori and dropped his hand to his sides. He looked into those eyes. Those kind eyes that he had grown to know over the month or so he had been staying in the lighthouse. "I don't know, Mori. I honestly don't know." Dane whispered the words and didn't lose the contact he had with Mori. He didn't want to. There was something about the eyes... something about the angel. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just be normal.

Something inside him quivered. Mori's hand tightened its grip on him and suddenly it was like the bottom had dropped out of his stomach. This was too much. He realized all at once that he wouldn't be able to keep this up. He couldn't keep looking Dane in the face and hiding how intensely he felt for him.
"Dane," he said, his voice low and rasped. His eyes darted down toward the floor and his hand fell to his side. The angel turned away from him, unable to look him in the eye any longer. "I have to apologize. I can't...I have behaved irresponsibly. Selfishly. I kept trying to tell myself that I could look past it, could keep holding you up without..." He sighed heavily. "I promise you, this was not my original intent. I just wanted to help you. Everything else...it just happened."
He couldn't force himself to get to the point, to actually say what he felt. "I just hope I won't have caused you even more trouble." Moriel looked up again, guilt and adoration making strange partners on his face.

If Dane was confused before... he was even more confused when Mori's hand dropped from his shoulder and his hand fell. What was he going on about? He had helped Dane... so why was he saying something else happened? It was... Dane was confused. He was exceedingly confused. His eyes squinted and he cocked his head to the side. "W-what are you t-talking about?" Dane wasn't following what Mori was telling him. He didn't actually full out tell him what he meant by what he had said, and Dane's mind was too jumbled to make sense of it.
He reached forward and grabbed onto Mori's shirt just above his waist. "I don't understand." He told him in a whisper. He wanted to understand, but he wasn't sure he could or maybe wanted to. Why did his eyes seem like... there were two emotions in them. He just couldn't place it. What was Mori feeling and why was he feeling it. Surely this couldn't just be over the boner Dane woke up with when sleeping in the same bed as him... it had to be bigger, but his mind wouldn't let him see it.
