Moriel nodded, knowing that it wouldn't be possible for Dane to fully comprehend what he was talking about. One couldn't, he imagined, unless they were able to experience that. "Does that bother you, Dane?" he asked softly. It was something that always came up with his romantic involvements. "That I will live on while you grow old? I understand if it does. It has always been a difficult aspect of my relationships."
It had been especially problematic in those early years, when what people thought a youthful-looking middle-aged man was married to a 17-year old girl, and that was normal. But time would go on, and for a young man to be wed to an old woman was unthinkable. He had, on occasion, had to pretend to be his wife's son, for appearance's sake.
With a returning squeeze to Dane's hand, the angel wrapped a wing around the man's shoulder, tugged him close against his side.

Why did Mori have to ask him that? Dane could have hidden those feelings and then Mori wouldn't have known, but now Dane couldn't lie to him. He had to tell him the truth and he knew that. Dane took a deep breath and nodded. "If we... stay together. I don't want to be some shriveled up thing in your arms while you look young still." Dane confessed to him in a small voice. He didn't want to say it at all, but knew he had to. He should be able to trust Mori, and he did.
When the arms wrapped around his shoulder, he moved his other arm to wrap around Mori's waist tightly. He buried his head in Mori's neck. He could see it... he could see himself old and wrinkly next to the flawless Mori. He wouldn't get old while Dane would. It wouldn't be fair... yet that was how it would go if Dane stayed with mori... and Dane wanted to stay with Mori. He didn't want to leave and be with anyone else but him. He was everything Dane wanted in a relationship and he wasn't going to lose him.
